Manchester United FC has strengthened its marketing and communications teams by hiring Ellie Norman and Matt McKie.
While Norman will attain the newly created role of chief communications officer for the club, McKie will join as director of consumer marketing.
Norman, the former global director of marketing and communications for Formula One, will oversee Manchester United’s brand and content and will also lead the club’s engagement and communications with its fans.
As well as this, the new chief communications officer will run the football club’s digital and social media channels, organise press and broadcaster relations and also manage the brand’s general identity.

McKie, the previous head of global marketing for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will report to CEO of digital products and services Phil Lynch, working alongside Norman in his new role.
Speaking about his departure from the IOC McKie said: “This week was my last with the Olympics. To call it a career highlight is an understatement, because this felt so much bigger than a job. But for me, I’m bottling some of that Olympic spirit and taking it with me back into the world of football. Thanks for everything and see you soon.”
The pair join the club, worth a reported £3.7 billion, a day after the team were victorious against Arsenal FC, winning 3-1 against its top-four rivals.
