Samsung has collaborated with writer and director Charlie Kaufman to create a short film shot entirely using the Galaxy S22 Phone.

Attributed with directing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Synecdoche, New York, the Academy Award-winning director has released a trailer with Samsung for his short film Jackals & Fireflies.

The film – created with director of photography Chayse Irvin – is intended to be a ‘Kaufmanesque love letter to New York City’ according to The Drum. It also wishes to highlight the quality of the tech brand’s Galaxy camera.

Kaufman himself has described the experience of filming with the phone as an “effective approach” adding that “the finished product is beautiful”.

The news of the collaboration with the filmmaker comes months after Samsung released its ‘Art of Multitasking’ campaign which imagined how Renaissance painter Leonardo da Vinci may have used the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Fold4.

The ad follows the creation of the infamous Vitruvian Man painting but with the help of Samsung’s fold-able smartphones.

Set to Queen’s iconic hit ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, viewers are shown how elements of the painting may have been inspired by features of the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Fold4. Da Vinci is even seen using one of the smartphones to take a picture of a delivery man holding a rectangular frame.
